The peonies around Arlington have always been strikingly beautiful. This year they are especially lovely. There are several planted in the public gardens at the Rec Park, and you will find them all over our area - in beds, as foundation plants, or even in the middle of a large lawn, or by the roadside, just happily soaking up the summer sun. Be sure to get out and walk around the village, and enjoy these simple flowers that require so little care, and yet bloom summer after summer, sometimes enduring decades of neglect. The peony is a perennial that thrives in our climate. The bloom featured here was sent to us by Dawn Santos of Dorset - simply beautiful.
